Between April 8th and 10th, 2025, the FOR-FREIGHT consortium convened for its 5th General Assembly and Technical meeting, marking significant progress in our mission to enhance intermodal freight transport across Europe.

The assembly commenced with a pivotal Advisory Board Meeting, bringing together key experts and stakeholders to review project advancements. Discussions focused on the development of FOR-FREIGHT solvers and solving processes, platform enhancements, standardisation activities, and sustainability strategies. The insights and recommendations provided are instrumental in steering the project’s direction and ensuring its alignment with industry needs.

DHL Warehouse Visit: Bridging Theory and Practice

A highlight of the event was the visit to the DHL Warehouse in Illescas, Madrid. This excursion offered consortium members firsthand exposure to real-world logistics operations, reinforcing the practical applicability of our innovative solutions. Observing daily workflows and operational settings allowed for valuable reflections on how FOR-FREIGHT’s developments can be effectively integrated into existing logistics frameworks.

Metro de Madrid Demonstration: Showcasing Intermodal Innovations

The second day featured a visit to Metro de Madrid (MDM), where partners witnessed a live demonstration of the Spanish Use Case. Presentations covered the Spanish Solving Processes and trial results, emphasizing innovations in intermodal transport. This demonstration underscored the project’s commitment to smart mobility and the practical implementation of its solutions. We extend our sincere gratitude to DHL and Metro de Madrid for their hospitality and support during these visits.
